Tamsyn says ...

Together, we’ll work out where to begin, what’s missing from your writing and how to make it sparkle in a crowded market. We’ll look at everything from character, setting and dialogue, to how to nail your own all-important voice – all in a single day!"

Back to Tamsyn - with a note to all aspiring writers ...

"I wish I'd taken some courses when I was starting to write. I wish I'd had someone to tell me how to create characters, how to create a story structure, how to show instead of tell and what I absolutely needed to avoid doing. It would have saved me a lot of time.

Writing fiction is a solitary business, spent mostly in your own head with people who don't exist. A lot of the time there are no rules, and it's one of the few skill-based occupations where you don't need a single qualification to give it a try. But that doesn't mean you can't learn a lot from the people who've flattened the path ahead of you. And if I'd seen a course specifically about writing for children and young adults, I'd have taken it, because courses like that give you the key to unlock the door to your own scintillating stories. Students who have taken my Writing for Children course in the past agree that they feel better equipped and more able to write afterwards. Not only that, they have tools to ensure they won't lose interest part way through, won't create wooden characters and will get to The End.

Writers tend to be a generous bunch, keen to share what they've learned along the way and I'm no exception. Come and join me in Cambridge and learn in one day the writing secrets it took me a lifetime to uncover."
